Sam Schafer


Sam Schaefer is leaving Monday for San Antonio Texas. He will go through basic training for the Air Force. He will be a special forces candidate. His protocol to get physically and mentally ready was CrossFit. We are lucky to have people like Sam that are willing to put up so much for our freedom. Our best goes out to you Sam. Thank you for your service and friendship. Stay strong always!

Our next Athletes of the Month are Sam Schaefer and Vikki Bayliss. They typically train at different times so many of you may not have had the opportunity to share many workouts with them. They are both so motivating. You have both come so far and it's been awesome watching you get better all the time. Congrats to you both! Pics and Bios coming soon.

Saturday Strength/Skill Work: "Games Day" Prepare for 3 short WOD's. Yes you will get opportunity to rest in between workouts. The last workout will be one we keep. "Sam" will be dedicated to Sam Schaefer.

    Congrats Sam, on both starting a bold new chapter in your life as well as a richly-deserved athlete of the month honor. It's been fun watching you progress these last few months, and your performances almost always leave me shaking my head in disbelief. The GOOD kind of disbelief. I look forward to hearing about how completely non-challenging basic training will be for you! Good luck, and stay in touch!! And Vikki, make sure Dan spells your name right otherwise you get to stare at "Vicki" for a month on the website…trust me I speak from experience. 🙂 You've been rocking these workouts every night, and I do mean, EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. Once you string together 10-15 of those kipping pull-ups, you'll be burying your old times on everything. Your enthusiasm and willingness to take on anything thrown at you is admirable, and you do it all with a smile. We're lucky to have you!!

    Best of luck to you in all of your endeavors! It is an honor for us to workout with you, and I know you will excel in your training. Just remember, they don't know your mother or your family as they try to break you down to build you up in their mold. Good luck and we'll miss you! Keep in touch.

    Sam, you know you're the king and have a huge start on most of the guys in bt, when you make it to special forces, and you will, be safe, come home in one piece. Congratulations on athlete of the month, it is long overdue.
    Vikki, great job everytime you come into the gym you make others, including myself, work that much harder to keep up. keep going, this only seems to be the beginning for you.

    Vikki, I am starting a petition for you to have to use mens' Px weights during the W.O.D's. I'm mainly doing this for my own ego because I'm sick of getting worked by you when we're in class together. I think most people will sign!

    I'd like to tell everyone thanks for everything, I have gained so much since I began crossfit in February, physical and mental strength, confidence that I won't be part of 90% of people that drop out of the training for my job, and of course friends, the support I have gotten from every single person is incredible. I can't wait to begin my journey when I get on the plane tomorrow. Just out of curiosity what was the wod named Sam?

    It was:

    Round 1: 10 KTE, 20 Pushups, 10 Backsquats, 20 Pushups

    Round 2: 15 KTE, 20 Pushups, 15 Backsquats, 20 Pushups

    Round 3: 20 KTE, 20 Pushups, 20 Backsquats, 20 Pushups

    Backsquats were 135lb in the class I was in (me, Mike Derenski, Mike Edwards).
    The 120 pushups take a lot out of ya!
