One of our biggest obstacles as trainers is to crush the myth that lifting heavy weights to gain strength will make you "bulky." Most of us, especially females, do not have the hormonal environment to gain very large amounts of muscle mass. Strength training sets the foundation to build all elements of athleticism. Strong muscles, tendons, and ligaments support our joints better and certainly fit the description of being "functional." Strength is a complex subject and this article brings some things to light.What is Strength?
