Over 4,000 hours of CF coaching
6 years pro baseball, NYY and Toronto Blue Jays

Bio

Brandon co-founded Crossfit Valley Park in 2007. He loves the sense of community that Crossfit creates and enjoys seeing members improve their skills. His favorite coaching activities include asking philosophical questions mid-WOD. Among his favorite movements are taking a knee between sets and cat-cow during warmups. He also enjoys laying on a foam roller or lacrosse ball. When he’s not coaching, you can find Brandon experimenting with new programming, striving to live out his faith daily, and spending quality time with his family.

Missouri Athletic Club Tennis Professional

Bio

Margaret began Crossfit in 2007 and is the original member of our Tiny Coaches department. She also holds the official title of favorite target of gym pranks involving insects, rodents, or chickens. She has played all the sports, including gymnastics and diving, but specialized in tennis, where she was an All-American doubles player in college. Given her size, her love of bodyweight exercises and suspicion of barbells seems sensible. When she’s not coaching Crossfit, you can find her coaching tennis, or raiding her giant stash of oreos, or eating pizza.

Over 500 hours CF coaching

Bio

Erin began Crossfit in 2010 and joins Margaret in our Tiny Coaches department. Her favorite thing about Crossfit is the unknown and discovering what her body is capable of. At only 4’11” she has an understandable hatred of box jumps. Her favorite movement is any form of clean, except the “clean” where she pushes the floor scrubber around the gym. When you can pull her away from Candy Crush, Erin loves outdoor activities, especially with her husband and young son.

Bio

Natali is the most recent recipient of our “Most Original Warm-Up” award. The plaque is displayed prominently in a remote corner of her living room. Her passion for teaching people and for expanding her own fitness knowledge shines through in her coaching style. Her favorite thing about Crossfit is its scalability to all fitness levels. Her favorite Crossfit exercises include power cleans and, for some odd reason, toe-to-bars. She rightly despises thrusters. We’re less sure about why she hates Jello. Outside of Crossfit, she enjoys yoga, running, good food, music, and travel. She claims to be a closet Martha Stewart, but we’re still waiting for perfect Paleo cupcakes shaped like kettlebells to appear at the Christmas party.

Crossfit Endurance
Trail runner and Jeep enthusiast

Bio

Stephen Cooper started doing CrossFit in 2009 while in college at Mizzou. When he moved back to St. Louis, he became VP’s Endurance coach desiring to teach others how to achieve their goals through fitness. He loves running, which explains why he keeps trying to convince the rest of us it doesn’t suck. It’s a good thing his superpower is patience. When he’s not CrossFitting, he enjoys reading and traveling, reportedly in Hawaiian shirts.

Student Logan University College of Chiropractic

Bio

Nathan is a chiropractic student and head of our Amazing WOD-Hair Department at Valley Park. He grew up playing basketball and missed its competitive aspect until he found Crossfit. His favorite aspects of Crossfit are the competition, the sense of community, and the fact that, regardless of his fitness level, every workout has the potential to be a humbling experience, especially if it includes pistol squats. Given his height, it’s not surprising that he loves wall balls and rowing. If he had a superpower, he’d want it to be super-strength, which, frankly, he’s well on his way to achieving. His biggest accomplishment is his marriage and becoming a father.

Bio

Monica is a Crossfit Valley Park original and the sole member of our Smiling-Mid-WOD Society. She mostly wishes Crossfit had been around when she was in her 20s. She loves helping people and her favorite thing about CFVP is the sense of community. When she’s not in the gym, she works for a physical therapist doing small group and personal training. Her superpower is being a mom to 2 teenage boys.

Bio

Jeff has always been athletic, playing volleyball and swimming. He got into Crossfit after trying SEALFIT, which is also based in functional movement patterns. He began coaching during college. His favorite things about Crossfit are the unknown and all things barbell with the occasional yoke carry mixed in. He avoids handstand walks at all costs. When he’s not coaching, Jeff does Crossfit for fun (not that he’s single minded or anything). His wife is the best thing in his life and he considers his marriage his greatest accomplishment.
