The 19th century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once wrote: “That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger.”
Was Nietzsche the first CrossFitter? As we consider the three tenants of CrossFit i.e….,Functionality, Variety, and Intensity, the last one is what Nietzsche must have been considering.
How about the strange dichotomy between near death and euphoria after completing “fight gone bad” or “fran”. Is it the feeling of cheating death or the fact that we are getting stronger that keeps us coming back for more….. Or perhaps both?
Each tough workout leaves us exhausted yes… but our miraculous bodies respond by becoming stronger so we can endure and overcome more work in the future.
